Within a central circle, ‘al-imām / Aḥmad’ (‘Imam Ahmad’ in Arabic); inner margin, ‘lā ilāha illā Allāh Abu’l-ʿAbbās al-Nāṣir li-dīn Allāh amīr al-muʾminīn’ (‘There is no deity but Allah. Abu’l-ʿAbbas al-Nasir li-din Allah, Commander of the Believers’ in Arabic); outer margin, ‘bism Allāh al-raḥmān al-raḥīm ḍuriba hādhā al-dīnār bi al-Iskandariya sana iḥdā wa thamānīn wa khamsa miʾa’ (‘In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. This dinar was struck in al-Iskandariya in the year 581’ in Arabic). Rev.
